Overview

Harbiye Kuafor is a full website I designed and developed for a well-established hair salon located in the Harbiye neighborhood of Sisli, Istanbul. The salon had been relying solely on word-of-mouth and Instagram — they needed a proper web presence that could rank on Google Maps and local search. I built a responsive Next.js site featuring their complete service menu with pricing, a gallery showcasing their work, customer testimonials, an integrated appointment booking flow, and location/contact information with embedded Google Maps. The design uses warm, elegant tones that reflect the salon's upscale positioning in the neighborhood. The site is fully optimized for Turkish-language SEO with proper hreflang tags, local business structured data, and Google Business Profile integration.

Challenges

  • The client had no existing digital assets — no logo files, no professional photos, no written content. Everything needed to be created from scratch
  • Optimizing for local SEO in Turkish, including proper handling of Turkish characters in URLs and meta tags
  • Making the appointment booking flow simple enough for the salon's older clientele who aren't tech-savvy

Solutions

  • Coordinated a content creation phase: shot professional-quality photos of the salon, wrote all service descriptions, and organized the gallery with before/after categorization
  • Implemented proper Turkish-language SEO with utf-8 encoded URLs, localized structured data (LocalBusiness schema), and integrated Google Business Profile for map pack visibility
  • Designed a three-step booking flow (select service, pick date/time, confirm with phone number) with large buttons, clear labels in Turkish, and WhatsApp fallback for less confident users
